I enjoy staying indoors on a rainy winter day. I could sit in my pj’s all day and take an hour to drink a cup of coffee. My boys….like most kids, want out of the house! Here are some ways we stay sane on rainy days!
Aarav loves it, and we try to take him a few times a year. If your child is active and loves to run, this is perfect place. Aarav constantly needs to be playing or touching things and there is so much to explore at Science World.
We can easily spend 4 hours there. The big plus for me, they have a private nursing area!! For us breastfeeding moms, sometimes that’s all we need. We recently took Arjun for his first time, can’t wait till he’s a little older and can enjoy exploring it too. PS The Nordstrom downtown also has a wicked mother’s room!!
2. 6Pack Beach
Living in South Delta we LOVE Centennial Beach. The playground there is incredible. it’s massive, tires the kids out, and bonus after the playground they can dig around in the sand and burn off more energy. When it’s freezing out, and Aarav is walking around the house with his sand toys, a good place to head out is to Richmond to the largest indoor sandbox in the city. Bonus you don’t have to worry about sunscreen!
This is a great place if your kids are under the age of 5. There are slides, a little castle and tons of toys. For moms, think the big sell is that it’s a cafe, and us moms need our coffee!!
4. Jumping in Puddles
This is a very easy activity. Throw on a rain jacket or a muddy buddy for your little one, head outside and just let them jump in puddles. Aarav loves it & it’s FREE!
5. Playdates
A few years ago, the moms of Ladner would have Wine & Whine parties. The moms would drink a glass or two of wine, and the kids would have a playdate. Think that kept a lot of us moms sane. Many of the homes were in walking distance so you could safely just stroller home and not worry about driving! Another option is the usual coffee playdate with another mom or two. It’s nice to share stories. I loved doing it with Aarav, and now when he’s in preschool, it’s nice to have some other moms over with babies so Arjun can make some new friends!
