A new ‘type’ of restaurant is emerging and it’s creating a buzz in every city that it opens.
It’s fine dining except with an ‘au naturel’ twist – you eat completely naked in the buff. No weird 70’s inspired keys in bowls stuff, just good food in the nude.. apparently.
The Bunyadi in London opened to a 42,000 person wait list in 2016 and since then more ‘nude restaurants’ have appeared in Tenerife, Berlin, Auckland and more..
The latest ‘food in the nude’ restaurant to open is O’naturel in Paris. The menu is classic French fare, with items such as lobster, foie gras, creme brulee and snails in parsley cream sauce.
Diners are warned beforehand that the restaurant is just a restaurant and definitely not somewhere to try and pickup. All the staff are required to wear clothes due to regulations and the food has been rated as 4.5 stars out of 5.
Upon arrival, guests are asked to shed their clothes and are provided with slippers. Ladies, who make up 40% of the clientele, have the option to keep their high heels on.
And if you’re hoping to look in and catch a peek inside, too bad because a large curtain is draped over windows to ensure complete privacy.
The ‘nude restaurant’ trend doesn’t seem like it’s slowing down anytime soon, and just in case one comes to Vancouver, I’ll be at the gym doing sit-ups and lunges in the meantime!
Would you give it a try or not?
