They don't take reservations but the waiting process is all part of the experience. Snack on complimentary spicey naan and pakora while you wait. It has been named 'best Indian restaurant' in Vancouver in many years running.

7. Moose's Down Under

You mightn't have heard about this place.. that's because it's 'down under'. Seriously. Hidden away in the basement on West Pender lies a restaurant / bar servcing cuisine that is few and far between in North America - Australian. Forget about the bloomin' fries you might have seen at Outback Steakhouse down south. This is the REAL deal and you can tell because of all the Aussies working in this place.

Big helpings of specialties like chicken parmies, meat pies, potato skins plus large sides make this comfort food heaven. Downtown office workers know this place well - it is normally packed at lunchtime with suits enjoying the fun and easy-going atmosphere. Oh, and the food.

6. Johnnie Fox's Irish Snug

This place has perfected the art of comfort foods -  roast beef sandwiches, stews, bangers and mash.. You get the idea. It's British and Irish food done well, some say the best in Vancouver.
The decor is what you want from a cozy Irish pub with memorabilia on the walls and comfortable bar seating. It's the kind of place you'll stike up a conversation with the stranger and end up staying for another drink. Everything is reasonably priced and the staff are fun.

The roast turkey dinner is the definition of comfort food. It's like having a Thanksgiving dinner 365 days of the year.. so good. They also have pot pies, grilled cheese sandwiches, poutine and lots of other good stuff. But the roast turkey dinner is where it's at!

Steaming hot noodles with lots of flavour on a cold day. This place is legit and serves up 'real' authentic ramen that has regulars returning day after day. You'll be greeted with a warm welcome as soon as you walk in the door,  then quickly served more food than you can handle.
The price is good and it's located right in the heart of Chinatown. You can get a free refill of noodles (which they make in-house) and you can get the broth as hot as you like. Quick, easy, filling comfort food.. Can't go past this ramen place.

3. The Wallflower Modern Diner

Hearty and filling diner food with a twist! Vegetarians and vegans are well looked after and if you're a carnivore you won't miss the meat in their veg meals - so tasty. 
Classic homemade meals done well,  like mac & cheese, fried chicken, poutine, perogies, meatloaf, blackened cod and more. It's also one of the best places to head for a breakfast or brunch (especially if you're recovering from a big night). If you love old school diner school, you'll love this place.

2. Tuc Craft Kitchen
