The province of British Columbia has officially issued a state of emergency following numerous wildfires in the Central Region. Response teams, including The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster units, continue to provide hope, support, food and hydration to aid first responders and evacuees in multiple location across B.C. #bcwildfire #britishcolumbia
// Friday, July 7th at 5:30pm 100 Mile House // I took this video a few days ago from the centre of 100 Mile House. I couldn't stop watching the plumes of smoke. It was mesmerizing. I had been evacuated at 1pm earlier that day, but didn't quite know where to go or what to do with myself, so I simply drove around town aimlessly, trying to pass the time. Since then the entire community of 100 Mile House has been evacuated. Residents were told to leave their homes and their stores (many people own their own shops, so this is doubly devastating for them) Our grocery stores are closed, our streets are said to be a ghost town and even our ever busy Timmies now has no line up. I am only 15 minutes away from the fire itself. It moves direction each day with the wind. I feel safe myself, not once have I feared for my life. That is nice to say! However, this experience has been amazingly challenging. The number of emotions I feel on a daily basis; from complete sadness for the animals of the forest, to pride in all the firefighters and volunteers and rcmp and government staff working tirelessly long days keeping us all safe, to disgust as to what I will one day return to on my property (we've been evacuated since Friday at 1pm…even if my house is in tact, it will likely have smoke damage, freezers full of thawed meat, dead plants everywhere and a stench I am not looking forward), to joy and laughter with the friends I've chosen to hunker down with, to feelings of panic and a need to escape NOW! It's exhausting. Thank you for all the love & support & updates. I have had to postpone clients this week, cancel a summer camp I was organizing and am without wifi so have barely spent even a moment working. It feels…weird. Please keep sending your kind words & love. It is helping ❤️ #beautifulbc #bcwildfires #bcwildfire #100milehouse #hundeymile #evacuee #evacuation #wildfires #forestfires #forestfire #smokey @globalbc @cbcnews @bcliving @yourbcparks @britishcolumbian @redceosscanada

Highway through hell: A UBC professor captured this harrowing video while fleeing from the growing wildfire near Williams Lake, B.C. At one point, flames are several metres high on the right side of Hwy. 20. Head to our website for full coverage of the #BCWildfires #bcfires #wildfire #forestfire #williamslake #bcinterior
From the bottom of my heart thank-you to all the selfless firefighters from BC and across Canada, the emergency personnel, disaster relief workers and animal care takers who are risking their own lives in service of others across BC, supporting evacuees[+14,000!] and animals, fighting fires and helping make sure our roads are clear. So much love and gratitude to you all. I've lived in some of these places that are burning right now and I am heart wrenched. I've been through an evacuation myself in Manitoba a long time ago and also watched helplessly when family and friends were evacuated in my home town of Barriere BC years ago. It's such a horrific experience on every level to go through. Imagine your home, everything you own, your animals abandoned dying or lost, everything taken away in a mere moment. Please help and donate to the British Columbia Fire Appeal at redcross.ca. You can also easily text 45678 on your cell phone and write FIRES in the message to donate $10 immediately which is added to your phone bill. It really does help and go a long way. Update: Still waiting and praying. So much has happened in just a few days and my heart goes out to everyone who have lost so much in the wildfires. We packed up the car and stayed with family for a night just out of town to get out of the smoke. Only to find out the next day our entire city is on evacuation alert. It's scary knowing that everything can change so quickly. This photo is from a drive we took literally just 5 or 10 minutes outside the city, right on the side of the highway ✨ . . Thankful we have a God that is so much bigger and stronger than giant forest fires and that gives me hope ✨ . . . . . . . . . #photooftheday #photography #williamslake #bcwildfires #bcwildfire #instadaily #vsco #vscocam #vscodaily #vscovisuals #burned #trees #documentlife #prayers #praying #hope #britishcolumbia #summer #forestfires #forestfire #support
