Red Table Talk is an American web television talk show on Facebook starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith (daughter), and Adrienne Banfield-Norris (Jada’s mom). The first episode of season 2 had special guest Will Smith who revealed the STRANGE way him and Jada met and then got together YEARS later!
When Will Smith was filming ‘Fresh Prince Of Bel Air’ Jada was shooting for a TV show called ‘A Different World’ and Will saw her on that and was immediately taken with Jada. Thankfully Will knew someone who could introduce the two so they set up a plan for Will to attend a taping of the show, where he’d meet the future Mrs Pinkett Smith.
But things didn’t exactly go to plan because it turns out that the person who was meant to introduce Will and Jada brought another girl along, who caught Will’s attention. This girl turned out to be Sheree who Will went on to marry and have a son with!
Will never wanted to get a divorce regardless of the crazy connection him and Jada had but he did say this:
“I had a realization that I wasn’t with the person I was supposed to be with. I went in the bathroom at The Palm and I broke down in tears. I was sitting in a stall in the restaurant, and I was crying uncontrollably, and then laughing. Like, what the heck is wrong with me? I was crying and laughing and it’s like, I knew that was the woman I was supposed to be with, but I was never getting divorced.”
Until Sheree filed for divorce from him.
So how did Will and Jada get together? WELL he had signed the divorce papers, he left the building, got in his car, and immediately called up Jada.
“I said, ‘Hey Jada, what’s up, it’s Will.’ She said, ‘Hey, how you doing?’ I said, ‘Good. Are you seeing anybody?’ And she said, ‘Uhhh, no?’ I said, ‘Cool, you’re seeing me now.'”
AND BOOM! The coolest family ever was formed! You can listen to the full story told by Will below!
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith reveal the truth behind their relationship, from the day they met to the moments of crisis in their 20-plus year marriage.
