Richmond Jail & Bail with Crime Stoppers
Richmond Centre Mall
Fri Sep 11, 2026 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM (PDT)
What has become a public spectacle in both Vancouver and Surrey each year to raise funds for Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers now comes to Richmond and will literally “hold court” for the first time.
Crime Stoppers’ inaugural “Richmond Jail & Bail” event will make some noise in the Outdoor Park Plaza at Richmond Centre Mall on Friday morning September 11th starting at 11:00 AM.
A willing group of local community and business leaders has volunteered to:
- Be brought before our own hand-picked Crime Stoppers celebrity Judge
- Have “trumped-up charges” read out publicly to each of them, and have $2,000 “bail” set
- Be put behind bars in our County Jail - and stay inside until they can acquire enough cash from friends and colleagues to cover their bail. Funds raised go toward Crime Stoppers crime prevention and youth and senior safety programs, and the operation of its well-known 24-hour ANONYMOUS tips line.
Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers is a registered charity covering the entire Metro Vancouver from Powell River to Boston Bar. Donations of any amount will be greatefully accepted at the event in person, or online here.
Why Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers is a Success and Deserves Support
- People are often afraid to report crime to the police for fear of reprisal
- When you think about the local crimes reported daily in the news - some of them terribly tragic, Crime Stoppers provides a critical tool that lets the public anonymously help investigators solve them
- No one ever learns who provides this important information proven to help investigators solve crimes
- Since Metro Vancouver's Crime Stoppers was established 40 years ago, more than 8,400 arrests have been made based on ANONYMOUS tips received. More than half-a-billion dollars in stolen property and illegal weapons and drugs have been seized
Why a Jail & Bail?
- Despite what some people think, Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers is “not the police”, but an independent, non-profit charity that operates solely on funds raised, plus additional generous support donated by local businesses, community groups and individuals
- The business and community leaders who volunteer to take part in Jail & Bail understand Crime Stoppers helps keep communities safe and generously participate and raise funds on their own free time
